The entire day it was discussed in the news websites and
channels today whether or not the Delhi
Police did it right by entering the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus
and taking away students union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was later sent to
three-day police custody.
On Tuesday he and other students were allegedly holding a
function in support of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru who was hanged till
death last year. They were allegedly shouting anti India slogans which annoyed
ABVP students who later complaint to the police.
Left leaders found it quite strange that the police entered
the hostel campus to take him away and compared their
activity with emergency days.
Am really surprised with the Left’s reaction. Entering the
campus was within right of the police. If there was unease going on in the
campus, it was their right to stop it .Was there any need to organise such kind
of gathering in support of a traitor, who was convicted of attacking India’s
temple of democracy?
And on top of that, when held, they were supporting their
right to protest. How can they call shouting anti-India slogan as right to protest?
India is a democratic country. Here everyone has right to
express his/her views. That however doesn’t mean that one should cross limit
and start organising events in support of traitors. In fact shouting anti-India
slogan is a treacherous activity, and police was within its right to slap
sedition charges on Kumar and his supporters.
Its high time left oriented parties and its student wings
understand that they can only help in making a progressive India by being
within the system of the country. By
shouting and supporting anti India and pro Afzal Guru slogans they will end losing
more support base within the country.
No, I am not a BJP or ABVP supporter, but an Indian who will
never support treachery against the nation. Afzal Guru was sent to gallows due
to his deeds. Let’s not glorify his acts.
